3CT’s signature series features presentations by international scholars and practitioners whose work is engaged with theorizing the contemporary moment. Established in Spring 2005, Theorizing the Present is 3CT’s longest-running initiative and has brought to the University of Chicago such scholars as Susan Buck-Morss, Étienne Balibar, Manu Goswami, Robert Brenner, Elizabeth Povinelli, Michael Hardt, and Sandro Mezzadra. It also frequently invites University of Chicago faculty to present new work; previous speakers include Susan Gal, Patchen Markell, Leela Gandhi, and Judith B. Farquhar.
