Future Café is a student-organized series that provides the opportunity and space for undergraduates to collectively imagine utopian possibilities and long-term futures. University of Chicago College students, please join us for our next meeting to discuss the future of globalization over pizza, guacamole, and chips.

It’s hard to imagine a future without considering the global nature of contemporary societies. Vast, incomparably complex markets, and the flows of capital associated with them, link us with others we will never meet and grant us access to a diversity of resources. But those same markets can widen existing inequalities, and interruptions in the supply chain on the other side of the world cause shortages and jack up prices at local stores. Novel digital technologies allow us to communicate with people across borders and across regions in ways previously unimaginable.

How might we connect with people across the planet in the long-term future? What networks might hold us together? What might a future of our global world—and the processes of globalization that we have grown so accustomed to—look like?

Future Café is free and open to all UChicago undergraduate students. Join us for our next meeting to imagine together what globalization will look like 100, 500, or 5,000 years from now.

This event is free and open to all University of Chicago undergraduate students; registration is recommended.
