Lisa Wedeen was named a Fellow of the British Academy, an honor that recognizes outstanding contributions to the humanities and social sciences. She is the only political scientist of the thirty-two International Fellows elected this year. Congratulations, Lisa!

Adom Getachew participated in a panel, America at 250, in which she, Aziz Rana, and David Waldstreicher discussed their recent essays in Dissent and Boston Review. Audio, video, and a transcript from the event are available.
With Elvira Dyangani, Getachew also selected “Five must-read books on Pan-Africanism and art” for the Art Newspaper. This list was published in conjunction with Project a Black Planet: The Art and Culture of Panafrica, which was originally presented at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2024 and is now on view at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. Getachew is one of the exhibition’s curators, along with Antawan I. Byrd, Elvira Dyangani Ose, and Matthew S. Witkovsky.

Gabriel Winant contributed an essay, “Cradle to the Grave,” to the Law and Political Economy Project blog. In it, Winant “explains why a clear picture of how age mediates class would reveal not gerontocracy, but capitalism and the fractionated class system it produces.”
