3CT Dissertation Writing Group 2025–26

Update November 10, 2025: We are looking for additional writing group coordinators. Please contact Burak Tan for more information.

Mondays beginning October 6, 9:30am–12:30pm, Foster 107

3CT’s dissertation writing group continues. Coordinated by graduate student Burak Tan, the initiative aims to build an intellectual community and to foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

These weekly sessions are open to all PhD candidates and those close to candidacy across the Social Sciences and Arts and Humanities divisions. Students from elsewhere in the university whose work engages with contemporary critical theory or is otherwise motivated by the central mission of 3CT are encouraged to reach out to Burak with a description of their interests. Registration is not required, but we would appreciate potential participants expressing interest by emailing the coordinator(s) for planning purposes.

Composed of graduate students interested in theorizing the present, the Dissertation Writing Group is an informal space of writing, support, and community building at the 3CT. Participants join sessions in accordance with their schedules, and there is no expectation to participate for the full 3 hours or to participate every single week. Every session, the graduate students in the room decide how they would like to use their time for the day and create the space that works best for all in the community.

In Fall 2025, the writing group convenes in Foster 107 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on Mondays. A catered breakfast with pastries, tea, and coffee is provided, courtesy of the 3CT.
