Orientation 2020: The Future of Space

Sunday, October 4, 2020, 4:00–5:30pm

Future Café is an experimental, student-led forum for collectively imagining utopian possibilities and long-term futures, open to all undergraduates and hosted by 3CT.

Incoming first year students are invited to join the Future Café student coordinators for this hands-on Zoom workshop: we’ll start with a conversation about what speculative futurism is and why it might be useful, and then work in small groups or individually to rapidly produce texts or artworks for a shared zine about “the future of space.” We’ll then reconvene to share what we’ve made, and all contributions will be compiled in a special edition of the Future Café zine, Post-X, which debuted in Spring 2020.

This event is presented as part of the University of Chicago’s Orientation 2020 program and is open to all incoming first year students; registration is required. Please email us if you require any accommodations to enable your full participation.
